Shaq’s “Big Chicken Shaq” comes to Carnival!
Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal announced his Las Vegas based fried chicken joint, Big Chicken Shaq, will have a home on board the Carnival Radiance. The Radiance is the new name given to the Carnival Victory, which was originally designed in the 1990s; it is currently undergoing a $200 million refurbishment and will set sail in 2020.
O’Neal is Carnival’s “Chief Fun Officer”— a title he takes very seriously: “It’s my responsibility to make sure cruisers have the best time on their vacation, from food to activities. It’s all about making people happy. I don’t think people really know all the stuff you can do on a cruise.”

Celebrity owned restaurants is not new for Carnival. Following the lead of expert restaurateur Guy Fieri, whose restaurants uber popular “Guy’s Burger Joint” and “Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse” are also on Carnival. O’Neal’s selection of fried chicken sandwiches will be available to passengers for lunch and dinner at no additional cost, and O’Neal says he’ll also be rolling out some new breakfast options.

Other restaurants planned for the Radiance are reported to include Fahrenheit 555 and Cucina del Capitano, Carnival’s signature steakhouse and Italian restaurant, respectively, and the Caribbean-inspired RedFrog Pub.
